OBITUARY: 03 September 2009
Ruth Lay Stabler was the second of five children born to Lawrence and Berta Bailey Lay November 26, 1920 in Enid, Oklahoma, and died September 7, 2009 in West Melbourne,
Florida. She graduated from Britton High School and Central State College and did graduate work at the University of Oklahoma. |

Following a teaching career in Carter County
in Oklahoma, she was a communications instructor during World War II at Scott Field, Illinois, where she met her future husband, Edward W. Stabler from Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
A gifted artist, Ruth's proudest achievement was her "five wonderful children." Ruth and Ed raised their family in Mount Holly, New Jersey, and Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, where
Ed's work took them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Doug; one sister, Margaret Lay Young; and one brother, Bob Lay. She is survived by one son,;
three daughters; and six grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters: Kathryn and Frances; and her lifelong best friend, Jean Tallant.
Private interment will be at Olive Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City. |
