Prior to this century, this grave had only a brass marker placed by the Association in the 1930s.  The name on the marker was McBrien. Using the Association archives and contact with the McBrien family more details were learned about the grave.  A new marker with the proper information was placed by the Association in 2014.

Obituary
AMALIE EMMA KOHLERMANN McBRIEN  (19 Aug 1863 - 26 Sep 1899)
and her baby
VIOLET McBRIEN  (26 Sep 1899 - 26 Sep 1899)

Originally this  grave was known only as that of Mrs. McBrien.  The descendants of Emma Kohlermann McBrien are certain that his is her grave.  Emma herself made the 1889 land run on horseback (with her baby Theo) and her husband joined her later and claimed the homestead she had chosen.   The McBrien homestead would be what is now the SW corner of  Hefner Road (108th) and MacArthur Blvd. in OKC - about 2 miles due east of the cemetery.

The family believes that 4 other children are also buried at Olive Hill but, since the burial of children was not always documented in the 19th century,  we have no record of that.  Most undocumented graves of children are in Lots 15 and 16 near the front gate.

The other McBrien children who may be buried at Olive Hill are
Infant Son McBrien (born and died bet. 1892-1893)
Infant Daughter McBrien (born and died bet. 1894-1895)
Samuel Ernst McBrien (1894 - 1898)
Bertha Lillian McBrien (21 Apr 1897 - 1897)

Emma and Samuel McBrien ca. 1899
3 sons 4 daughters

The McBriens were neighbors to the Baileys and the Holloways and the McBrien descendants say that Libbie Bailey acted as midwife for the birth of several of the McBrien children.
